I think all my fish are starting to get black ich, it must have come from my yellow tang which has been in ther just over a week now, they were fine untill then and tangs are prone to this disease as i understand, i do not have a quarantine tank, what other effective treatments if any could i do while its early days? and is it worse then white ich? thank you...

You need to think about setting up a quarentine tank soon. I flat out had to kill a fish to save my tank (a tang with ick) when I did not have one. I felt so damn guilty I set one up the next day. It saved the next tang I got from the LFS. It also had ick. I don't mean to lecture but it is in everyone's best interest (you and your livestock). Also, malachite green will stain the silicone green. My ten gallon has bright green edges. It actually looks cool. As long as it's my quarentine and not my display. JMO. John.

ok, well i don't have a quarantine and i can't just go out and get one they cost money, which sadly i'm lacking at the moment, so some suggestions on treating the fish in the main tank would be great thank you sostoudt, natural sounds good to me if it works, and is black ich as bad as normal ich or is it just black the only difference.

    Thanks in advance.

    Stingray...

I highly recommend one as well. All you need is a 10 or 20 gallon that you can find cheap, even free...I would check craiglist sometimes you find people giving them away....Everytime you add a new fish into your main tank it is a crap shoot...
