Blacklight Spot light

    My moon lights were built into my Hood, however I think the heat from the T5's burnt out the LED's so i had to choose an alternative.
    I was at the LFS today and saw this blacklight spot light. I was very interested in getting a red 630nm spot light because I haven't seen one before as a night light, but a google search said that red light was bad for corals.

    So, I have this blacklight spot light as a moon light. Is this bad for my tank in any way, or a sufficient moon light?

    IIRC blacklights are UV or similar
    IF you want spotlights use incredibly under-drived TV's or HV's

    630nm light is not a blacklight spotlight. That is the growing spectrum light for an algae scrubber or a fuge light. Adding that over your tank will produce all kinds of algae you arent looking for. red's are mixed in for full spectrum in LED display lights. not as a stand only focussing bulb.

    Used in refugium to help grow algae. Amazing for algae turf scrubbers (ATS). In display tanks, use very little to warm up the colors.
