On Wednesday, here in Vegas, we had some powerful winds that caused a couple power outages in parts of the valley. Unfortunatly, I happened to be inone of those parts. So anyway, after taking actions to get my reef setup to survive the outage (not knowing how long it was going to last), I figured I would try taking some macro shots in the dark.

Shown is a Caulastrea Furcata (Neon Green Trumpet)

I used a 1 watt LED flashlight from above.

This is what the Caulastrea looks like under normally.

I took these pics using a tripod mounted Canon 40D, 100mm F2.8 Macro RAW format. Slightly edited.

What do you guys and gals think??

Funny you say that because while I was shooting, I got to see some of the heads catch some food and close up. It was pretty cool.

    Thanks all!!

First two were taken at F5.6 for 4 sec and third was at f2.8 for 1/6th sec and forth was f5.0 for 1/60th sec. I'm open for suggestions.

BTW Marlin65, lots of nice pics on your site..

Wow! Very well done! I would never have thought of using a flashlight to catch nighttime feeding pics!
