Blasting Rocks

Besides some cloudy water are there any negative results from blasting detrius of your rocks with a turkey baster?

 

I dunno. I do it so that I can siphon it out when I do a water change. I think it helps!

 

nope its a good practice to get the crap/detris in suspention for your mechanical filtration/skimmer to remove it .

 

Can it be over done? If I start to do it as daily tank maintence will that be bad for my fish or corals

 

You will disturb a lot of dead bacteria amongst other things which will feed your corals and filterfeeders like sponges and tube worms. Always a good thing IMO

 

I do it when I do my water changes. I a powerhead to ever area I can reach all over the tank that might have anything on it and even in the lower areas of the tank that do not have great cirulaction.

 

very good practice i do it with my LR and i cant believe how much crap comes off those rocks.

 

everyday might be a bit of over kill, just as others stated during waterchanges or weekly maintance is fine
