Is there any difference in the bleaches. I have like a bunch of packets of tide ultimate care bleach. Can I use this to nuke my rock?

I would just use straight up liquid unscented bleach.

Why does it seem that so many people want to "Nuke" their rock. What could be so bad that you feel you need to kill all of the good life in your rock. NOTHING good happens quickly in a tank. Take your time and solve the problems correctly.

Turf algae, bad crabs, hitchhikers, unwanted pests and parasites.

I picked up some very nice fiji rock. I love the shapes. Unfortunately I found red turf algae on the rock that would (and I have seen this firsthand) spread throughout the tank and cover the rest of my nice rock. I will be bleaching this new rock before I put it in my tank so I don't get crap all over the rest of my tank and / or introduce nasty crabs (like the gorilla I just killed a few weeks back).

Plenty of reasons why :) The freshly bleached "new" rock will populate with life from your existing rock. You eventually will not notice the difference.

Why not just buy dry rock if you plan on nuking? It's a heck of a lot cheaper.

I picked up the rock from a local person who sold me 13lbs for $20. If you can find cheaper base rock with shipping let me know. I have never seen his tank idk what was in it. I really don't wanna take a chance of introducing things I don't want into my tank. No need to bash if you don't know why I am doing something.

not really. i do this a lot actually. their just trying to be funny, dont take it offensively. were just here to help. if you feel the need to bleach it then by all means its your rock. we cant see what you see since there are no pics so i'll take your word for it and say taht turf algae is a SOB to take out. good luck and dont get bleach in you tank.
