    What is STN? Is there something I can do to treat it, get rid of it?

    Not sure if this has been asked already but have you checked for montipora eating nudibranchs?

    It hasn't been asked yet. I have not checked. How do you check?

    With a magnifying glass. Do a Google image search for "montipora eating nudibranchs" to see what you should be looking for. Make sure you look underneath the coral too as they like to hide out there. Some of these nudibranchs can be very very small so look carefully.

    STN = Slow Tissue Necrosis

    STN is when the coral tissue starts to receed. How is the polyp extension on your monti??

    Also, if you have nudis, you might notice dead spots on it.

    I have a question for you. If you are using API's calcium test and getting 650, does that mean it takes you around 33 drops to get the color to change from pink to purple?? Reason I ask is because, like Inwall said earlier, having your calcium at 650 is pretty much impossible with your salinity 1.022.

    Try having someone else (maybe your LFS) test your parameters for you and see what they get...

    OK...I don't see anything underneath that seems unusual. There is a small feather duster
    attached to it but it was there when I bought it and the previous owner said it had been there for a while and was OK.

    Yes, I am testing with the API kit and it takes about 33 drops for the color to turn purple. I did have a friend test it as well and he got the same results. That is a great suggestion to have my water taken in. Do all LFS's do this?

    My phosphates are about .25. My salinity is up to about 1.023 now and the calcium (at least according to my testing kit) is still high.

    I have removed the egg crate to see if the increased light helps.

    If it is helpful, all of my other corals seem to be doing fine. I have a frogspawn and hammer on about the same level that look good.
