So Softies are bleaching out? I would suspect with 250W over a 40G with a glass cover you may experience lightening of Soft corals.
Is the coral behaving normally other than bleaching?

For the most part he is open and extended most of the day. I don't have much coral experience so i don't know what normal is.. Light period is between noon and 9pm. The temp 82. Checked 5 times yesterday and always 82. Will test water and update as soon as i'm done. Thanks. Will take pics once g/f gets here with camera.

The water is a touch warm, usually sps don't like that too much. Do you have any pics of your tank?

Do you have the U/V shields on the fixtures and have you replaced the bulbs yet ? The shields are good and not cracked are they ? Those HQI will radiate the heck out of any coral, With any HQI bulbs if the fixture lens is ever cracked get them replaced and do not use the lamps until they are replaced

Actually i have a mogul based MH light, i'll try to get my temp around 78 then? The rock was base rock which i washed thoroughly, so nothing live on it.. no small cycle, i watched my nitrates, nitrites and ammonia carefully..
I'll grab a pick tonight when it's darker and the pics show up better.
    Params:
Ca is above 500 ppm (All the test goes up to)
    Mg is 1320 ppm
    Alk is 9 dKH
    Temp 82 still
I'm going to try to get my Mg up to 1400 as well.

Oh hell I remember you are in Canada I for got you went with the moguls .. and we sent them :) Might want to let the ca fall of a bit also for softs and run that about 400 ppm and try to keep the temps between 77 to 80 F max. Not sure now but if nit mentioned ? run good carbon in all soft tanks. Make sure the Ph is stable and not bottoming out at night from CO2 peaks .
