That scratching and sporadic darting would have me concerned.

I seen him wave there at the end. He does seem kind of uneasy about something. Might want to check your parameters.

parameters are good.. he's an extremely active fish.. I had him the LFS reserved for a week and a half.. watched him for about an hour over that course of time.. wanted to make sure he was healthy.. acted exactly the same way there.. he sleeps well and isn't fearful of any other fish in the tank.. parameters have been checked and verified every day from before he arrived.. that's just.. who he is i guess..

    thx for the concern though

You are familiar with the fact that "scratching" is a way to remove/soothe external parasites right? The darting is also an indication. I wouldn't buy a fish at the store that was doing that. If that were my tank, I'd keep an eye on it and all the other "prone" fish in the tank.

no i'm aware of the parasitic signs.. he does it very rarely and i was suprised she caught it on video.. ialso it was spliced to show activity.. not just docile behavior

he only thrashes at the sand with his tail.. and never his body.. nor has he done it on the rocks.. you guys have got me all paranoid now.. i'll have to obtain normal video of him now to prove he's not infested with mad fish disease :/

Tangs are very very susceptible to ich and other skin parasites, that behavior is exactly the same as the hippo I had when it came down with ich

I didn't see any shrimp in that video, I'd highly recommend getting a couple of skunk shrimp they do a great job of removing parasites and tangs seem to love them
