    Blub Blub...thats the sound a fish makes when it farts. Lol Anyways. Hello this is my first attempt at a reef tank. I have a 55 gallon tank not really anyhing in it yet other than a small piece of live rock. Its only day six of my reef attempt so hopefully all goes well, so far so good. Had a smal problem with a charcoal filter turning my entire tank black. I have since rectified this problem. Hope the forum helps me out a little on the way. After my tank cycles what should be the first life that i put in the tank?

    welcome to the forum. you will find a world of helpful people here. Many people will put in a Clean up crew in as the first inhabitants. but you will need to make sure there is enough for them to feed on. You could also go with a small fish, but make sure you cycle is complete before you do anything. I believe you still have a few more weeks yet before that is done.

    Thank you so much for the info. just added sand and more live rock today. my tank was super clear now, not so much the sand clouded it back up.

    Yes mam i am definately doing a reef tank i think they are so awesome. I just recently got into the hobby and already i can say im HOOKED. You will have to excuse my lame jokes they just come out sometimes. Hooked you get it..reef, fish, hooks, haha anyways. All info is greately appreciated. I love your tank by the way.

    Welcome monster, aww shucks ;) thanks for compliment! So I am thinking the same as the others you want live rock then clean up crew... buuuuuttttttt... I notices you said something about charcoal filters etc. Being that you are going to have a reef you need to (if you can at least this is what I did) take back the big fancy canister filter and get a high quality protein skimmer. Good live rock powerheads, protein skimmer and water changes are how you keep a reef clean oh yeah and the clean up critters too.
