about the clowns, nah, I'd personally just get a black and orange occ, you can get designer ones, but $$$$$!

i think you'd be ok with a pygmt wrasse, but 6 lines are devils and prob not a good idea for a small tank anyways. IMO, alot of aggression there once the clowns pair up and start brooding. Your LFS should be able to order any of the fish you've mentioned for ya.

You can PM nu-nu, he's a chalk bass freak and ask him some ?'s!

Then you are very lucky, or i just have a rebel gramma :p. I've never heard of sixlines picking at feather dusters, but there are some other species of wrasse that do. Sixlines are know for being aggressive, but since you're adding him last to a tank with what i would consider an aggressive fish (royal gramma) i'd say you'd be ok. Six lines are also known to eat pests vetremiid snails (spelling?). I've never heard of possum wrasses eating feather dusters either.

Chalk bass are a good option, but imo can be shy, and im not sure how it would react with another species of basslet (royal gramma) in the tank.

Some other ideas: Falco hawkfish, Cardinalfish , midas blenny, or a canary blenny. thats pretty much all i can think of that meet your requirements.

Your gramma is just full of spunk, reef3r!

I'll definitely contact Nu-Nu and ask him about chalk bass. I'll look in either the Midas blenny like you suggested or maybe a Tail Spot since they don't dig (I always think they do).

I would love to get snowflake clownfish, cosmo, but they'd cost more than my entire tank's current stock! :p

Definitely going to have a bit more research to do depending on what I pick, but thanks so much for the help!

I would get a watchmen, shrimp, or some other perching goby/blenny. Chromis can get pretty big too..

24 gallons is pretty close to 30 though ;) and in that case, the royal gramma shouldnt be in there either then.

Several years ago I spoke with a guy extensively on this topic. His tank is a 180g. and had many tangs and tons of other fish. He is a diver and has visited many coral reefs. After many dives he sold over 1/2 of his fish because after being in the ocean he strongly felt his tank was wayyyy overstocked. According to most reef aquarium standards, it wasn't but after being in the ocean he knew it was.

In my 65g. tall I had 2 fish: 1 banghii cardinal and 1 small wrasse (~2").

My Gramma doesn't like CUC near his cave and removes or knocks them away. He also defends his personal space but is not much of a chaser and has not done damage to any fish. He does not like Chromis and is pretty aggressive with small ones when they are introduced.

Same with mine. He gets a little PO'd when the cleaner shrimp get too close to his cave. Other than that he is very lazy! Most of the time he won't even go chase food, but rather wait for it to come to him :) He shows no interest in new additions though, unless they hang out right in front of his cave. Even then all he will do is open his mouth and try and look mean. Doesn't work for the Lawnmower Blenny though LOL.
