It is a dry heat, yeah right !
If you have a QT set up then I myself would be inclined to use it. All you have to do is monitor for ammonia and do small water changes when appropriate.

How big is this QT ?

Marine ich and tangs just go together unfortunately so it is a hard choice.

How big is your QT tank? That makes a difference too.

I am fairly new at this but have done a lot of research so correct me someone if I am incorrect. Tangs particularly Blue Hippo Tangs and ich go together like salt and pepper. My saltwater store wont even try blue tangs anymore because, "they die". I have read that if a fish is dying they can raise the ammonia level so it may be the chicken and the hen thing. That being said if you really want a Tang I would use a QT tank to keep the rest of your tank safe. I would preparing it ahead of time and and monitor your water closely. May sure and acclimate him slowly both in the QT and in the display tank.
As far as this fish all you can do is try. Do water change to correct your water and if he looks like he can tolerate it give him a hyposalinity dip. If you don't know how to do this you can search it on the site. Best of luck, I know it is disheartening.

Depending on the size of your blue tang, the 10 gallon tank may be to small and causing a stress. As for the ammonia, get some prime or ammolock in order to make is sustainable and keep performing water changes

I QT'd mine in a 29gal and the tang was very small(like .75in). I treated it with copper and after 2 weeks of no signs, I moved to the DT. My tang gets the occasional white spot, but none of my other fish show any signs at all.

What I am getting at here is that even in a 29 with a tiny hippo, I was struggling to keep ammonia down and treat the ich at the same time. I would suggest if you are going to buy another tang, to first upgrade to a 40 or larger QT tank, preferably a 55.

    Sorry for your loss.
