My blue hippo tang has had ich ever since the first night I got him. I am wondering about it though. His eyes looked a bit glazed like there is a film over them, and some days he has no sign of ich the next he has a bit. He is eating well but scratching and going towards my blood shrimp for help. I have been reading up on ways to cure ich and I have Ich attack and Copper treatment stuff but I am to worried it might kill the guy. I have read up on freshwater dips but Will this kill off the ich or just cut it down a bit. He doesnt have it really bad but I would like to have him be healthy.

When my sailfin had ich after placing in my tank I bumped up the feedings and soaked the food in garlic. Seem to cure it with in a 7 to 10 days. Do not put cooper in your reef tank.

    Also I alternated with Selcon.

Selcon and garlic work wonders, really. Any food soak rich in vitamins and HUFA's greatly help a fish's immune system.

+1 on Garlic and Selcon. My salifin also had ich and I upped the feedings as well and soaked with both. Within days he had fought it off.

Agree with what everyone has said already as far as soaking the food. In my experience, if they keep eating they will fight it on their own. Adding chemicals or trying to catch him to do a FW dip will likely only stress the fish out more than it already is, and possibly cause it to stop eating.

    Good luck!
