If they came from a trusted reefer's tank and were not sick in there then I would have just thrown them straight in the DT. I would recommend transferring the male today asap during light hours. If they are separated for too long then the aggression may continue for different reasons. Its most likely that the small tank was causing them to fight initially.

I would have a pair but cant since I run bare bottom in all my tanks. They are super cool fish.

I wanted to QT them mainly to get familiar with them and them with me. I can observe their behavior and feeding habits. Will probably transfer the male today...

After a few day wanted to update the post. I added the male the next day by transferring his PVC " cave" into the DT. The female found him and stayed next to the pipe until he came out. They both seem to be doing well, he chases her every once in a while. He definitely has taken over the tank. I have a medium size rabbitfish and he just points his spines at the trigger when the male gets frisky. The two Bangaii cardinals, cleaner shrimp, clam, urchins, and cuc have been ignored. Well except for the unfortunate snail that becomes the occasional play toy. Hopefully this trend will continue when I add Anthias and a diamond goby in the future.
