3 months ago i got a small blue acro frag. Its on a 1" plug and a single stalk stands 2 1/2". I have over 30 hermits most are blue leg. But one continously sits atop the new acro frag. I've pulled him off several times and placed him on the opposide side of the tank only to find him on top of the acro again and again.

Should I just toss him (I do not have a fuge). I can't see damage like skin removal on the acro but it does appear that his sharp legs are damaging the top of the acro mildly. Also the polyps where he sat continously are not opening.

Are these the tiny guys or the big "electric" blue hermits...and, are you sure its the same one? That's kind of odd...but so many things in this hobby are unexplained.
Pictures ? ...I'd like to see this circus act. lol : )

In a few hours pictures may be possible as I am sure the bugger will be back. This is a blue leg hermit not the electric. Usually its the same shell I see, but having so many spare shells over time I have seen diffrent shells. But when removed its usually the same shell for several times, then a shell change and again same shell several times. Nearly positive its only the one hermit out of many.

If it were me, you have 30...I would give him away or back to the store, ..whatever, it's not worth the risk...But, that's your call...interesting to see if another just takes it's place..king of the hill...:p
love to see the pic though.:)

My hermits tend to pick a spot to spend a lot of time in and spend it there. Usually you find the same ones in the same spots day after day until food hits the water, then they scramble. Later you find them back in their spot.

LOL..never seen acro host a hermit...take him out and mark him with something non toxic...if its always the same one, that would just be another anomaly in this crazy hobby...btw, I have a frag that looks just like that.;D

    ¢

Well call me a heartless bastige, The hermit is now in the yard looking for the ocean. Its raining today and tommorow and that should allow him some time to make his journey. 20¢ is not worth the time or trouble to find him a new home. I am not sure he was doing harm but it seriously worried me. Maybe they did have a symbionic relationship and the frag won't be as happy but I am going with my gut that the relationship was one sided for the hermit.

    Please forgive me.

Very true, just a bit nervous. This is the first time I have been very succesful with SPS corals. Years ago I tried but had alot of trouble with proper lighting and water conditions. This last year and a half I have had great success, with all my corals including the SPS and LPS. I just had to learn that a tank needs is not limited to water changes and feeding fish. Target feeding, what coral likes what lighting, position in the tank, water flow requirements, calcium levels, mag levels, etc... The list goes on forever. Still open to be taught MUCH more.
