I bought a toadstool on Saturday and noticed one of my hermits on top of it last night when I go home from work. I have since removed him from the coral three times and he keeps going back to the same spot. The spot where he keeps going is a little lighter in color than the rest of the toadstool so he is definitely irritating it, if not eating it. Do you think I should remove the hermit? It would be a no brainer if I had a refugium, but removing him from my tank means killing him. I have no more algae or cyano, so he may be eating anything since there isn't much left in the tank.

I wouldn't worry about it, I think the hermit is going to molt or just has and is using the toadstool as a safe spot.

Thanks! This is the first coral I bought that wasn't an inexpensive frag, so I'm a little paranoid.

Today I took three Turbo snails back to the LFS because all they do is knock sxit over. But my hermits crawl over everything and seem to hurt anything. It does get you attention though. Nice coral.

Turbos aren't referred to as bulldozers for nothing that is for sure.

Based on what I have read here, the two things I will never own are turbo snails and anemones. Both are pretty cool to look at in other tanks, but I'm not willing to deal with the problems they can cause.
