I've never drip acclimited a hermit crab. I float the bag for about 15 minutes, then add water from my tank every 5 minutes or so & watch their reaction as I do it. After about half an hour or 45 minutes, I put them in the tank. I've never had a hermit die from acclimation.

Your hermit will be fine. I never drip mine either and have not lost one during acclimation. Iirc blue legs like most other hermit crabs are an intertidal species and are tolerant of changing parameters. The shrimp on the other hand definitely requires a drip.

please excuse wrong words, I posted this from my phone that auto "corrects."

what size tank is this? 1 hermit and 2 snails aren't going to make much of a dent in anything but the smallest of tanks which would be too small for even one clown.

I would suggest going to reefcleaners.org and ordering your clean up crew there (although it might be a little cold where you are for shipping livestock right now). Blue legs are $.45

If this is a new tank, I recommend waiting before ordering a full crew, as there's probably not much in there for them to eat yet. Once you start seeing signs of algae forming, then do what Stepho said!
