Blue Leggeds dying off

    I am seeing a lot of my smaller blue leggeds dying off. probably had close to 50 at one time and thinking my CUC was too big. Now there's about 10 big ones left.
    How big of a CUC should I have with a 30g reef and 60lbs live rock?

    Are you sure you are not seeing their molts? Hermits can be cannibals so that may be why your crew is thinning out.

    10 maybe the optimal number for your aquarium.

    When they all die off, what you have left is about right, so 10. :p Unfortunately, being a part of the CUC is a tough life. They are limited by the available food, so if you feed less, more will die.

    nah it's dead bodies. I definitely don't have a problem with overfeeding, algae or anything of that kind so they probably are eating each other. The larger ones are very strong and have a healthy appetite. Thanks 2in10, I'll take some time and do some reading @ ReefCleaners today.

    I've seen the same thing happen to me Reefs2Go had a BOGO half off sale on their crabs this weekend got an email that it was still going on. I picked up some new crabs for a great price.

    I target-feed mine with chunks of fish or shrimp 2 - 3 times per month to ensure they're staying well-fed. :)
