I don't think it's starving after a week. More likely it's acclimation shock. Either way though, if you don't have a large mature tank with tons of live rock they're best left in the ocean.

    Blue Linkia

I once had an orange linkia and one leg started oozing something so I too a new razor blade and in the tank cut the part off right above the infection. In the end he still died. Supposedly Fromia starfish are hardier than Linkias.

How much LR do you have Stingray? How old is the tank? These are probably the two most important aspects in keeping a blue linckia. That is once you're past the getting the water stable part... don't want to be misunderstood... ;D

I would guess that you might have issues down the road but I don't know that. It all depends on how stable your tank is. A little trick I use for both of my linckias is to let the film algae grow on the glass for a few days past where I would normally clean it. The starfish always seem to hang out on the glass if I do this.
Also keep in mind my linckias have been in a 30 gallon QT tank for 5 months from where I nuked my 180. They should be going back to the big tank in a couple weeks though. I just fired the lights and added my mandarin and some corals. Didn't want to over do it.

With all of that being said if you're tank runs stable and you practice good husbandry skills you may be in the clear...

well I have a 135g tank with about 160 pounds of live rock. The tank itself is only 4 months old but it was a transfer from a tank that was a year old and all the rock was from 2 seperate tanks that had been up for about that long. (with exception of a maybe 40 pounds)

I still think something got a hold of it...or maybe acclimation shock....

    anyway I culled it today..

I had it in my sump and spot fed it yesterday and it did not seem like it was getting any worse. The part of the leg that was injured fell off and it was moving around the sump. Today I noticed some more spots on its other legs so I picked it up to look at it and it was disintegrating and looked at its mouth and I think its guts had come up....something bad had def came up. So I culled it...my first experience with that! but more humane that making it suffer

+1 on the whole impulse buying starfish killer. I was really dissapointed I thought it was doing well and then it just rotted away. I thought the same thing that it had gotten caught in something because thats how it looked , chewed up.
