Was it a Linckia or just a starfish?
How long did you have it?

I think that the color has a lot to do with how they do

I have read where some animal's from the ocean can go up to six month's without eating before they die. How long can a Linckia go?

I don't know maybe it is just how each star has adapted to its surroundings. Adaption may have a lot to do with diet. Reds may act different blues and more so then purples. Then again maybe it is just like fish they have there own persona's.

mine would go from one end of the tank to the other, over rock, under rock, on the glass, on the sand. I think if you have a mature system, it helps. There is a slime coating on the glass and rocks that we just can't see or feel. Need a microscope to see it. The mouth on linkia's aren't very big, so it would stand to reason that the food they eat would be small too.

good point on the mouth thing but I thought stars expelled there stomachs to digest what ever they were trying to eat on the out side.

I was told you should try small peices of zuchinni, and they also said the orange ones are easier to keep in a large aquarium with lot's of detritus for them to scavenge on. So if the zuchinni doesnt work trade him in for an orange one if you have a large enough aquarium. I just noticed you have a small aquarium....
