Finally got my clam. I picked up a purple with blue accents maxima. It is currently about 2.5-3". I assumed I would have to feed any clam I got for a at least an acclimation period for my lights so I am ready to feed. Im just wondering how large the clam needs to get before I can stop feeding and let the lights take over.

Mine was smaller than your when I got mine. I fed it for a while with phytofeast. I stopped feeding after a couple of weeks because I started getting some cyano. The clam continues to grow. He is on my sandbed and is getting everything it needs from my T5s and from Rod's food juice it sucks out of the water column.

The old rule was under 2" they need to be fed. Well, that theory has pretty much been dis proven.

Lights alone will keep it fed.

I love clams, and can't wait to add more. Got a pic of your clam?
