My wife and I would like some blue in our 75 gal. No damsel fish! We only have 2 false percula clowns in it at the moment. We're thinking about 2 blue reef chromis. How is your experience with these fish? Other fish to ad wil be. Purple firefish, McCoskers wrasse and a very big maybe on a flame angel.

It is a dry heat, yeah right !
In a 75 gallon I would think about adding 3 to 5. Not sure about the odd numbers do better myth but it's always worked out better for me. Chromis can drop like flies so I always start with a few more and end up loosing one or two eventually.

Lastly Chromis are a type of Damsel, usually a more passive type though.

do blue reef chromis kill each other like regular chromis do? I would hate to buy 5 and end up w/ 1 or 2 like I did w/ the regulars. Exp. since these cost a bit more. I second buying 3-5 and the odd number thing too.

IIRC don't get the ones with black shoulders I think????? someone help me with that. I like mine, my 2 problems I have with him is
1, he builds a nest every day and that involves spraying sand and shells everywhere from 1 area which can compromise landscape, so make sure yours is secure and
2, he's buddied up with my yellow tang and is his body guard, its weird, he doesn't let anyone near that fish even though he's alot smaller.

But, I like them, they're cheap, pretty, active and alot of fun.

Edit, I'm talking about a different species, thanks 2in10, please disregard

I always heard the Mccosker wrasse is a major jumper. Hope you have fully enclosed canopy or mesh on tank.

Cosmo you are thinking of blue-green chromis. Blue Reef chromis are a strong blue with black markings. They get to 5" in length and can be like the the black shouldered green chromis with aggression. They also are more sensitive than most Chromis and Damsels.
