I am wanting to add three blue reef chromis (small) https://www.liveaquaria.com/product/prod_display.cfm?c=15 2971 113&pcatid=113 to my 40gal breeder. It currently has a firefish goby and a snail cuc, an oversized skimmer, cheato. The tank has been cycled and running for three months. Do you think adding three of these fish will cause any spikes or cycle issues? I would add one fish at a time but it seems kinda silly to buy one fish from Drs. Foster and Smith at a time. I would look for them at my LFS but they would be twice as expensive and come with no arrive alive and stay alive guarantee:-/

As long as you have plenty of LR, the additional Ammonia produced by the fish will be processed. You have to remember, there is no such thing as a "cycled" tank. The bacteria will establish an equilibrium with the amount of Ammonia and Nitrite produced. Every time you add new livestock, the bacteria will have to increase in numbers until a new equilibrium is reached. 3 blue chromis are pushing the limits a little because they are much larger than blue/green chromis. I would monitor Ammonia levels and be prepared to do a waterchange. Normally, I would suggest adding one fish at a time. However, with this species, if you bought one and tried to add a second and third one later, the first fish would kill the new ones. I have no idea why Live Aquaria lists them as "peaceful" because they aren't (to similar fish).
