I somehow managed to become the owner of a blue ribbon eel. My sister said asked me if I could look at a friend of hers tank because she was having problems with it. So I of course said sure (not many marine tanks in my town)
I go over there with her and it was a Pe*co special complete with fake coral , colored gravel, a dying bleached out Anenome and dying clown. And a 2.5 ft blue ribbon eel. Everything she knew about keeping the tank which was only about 3 weeks old was told to her by the local pe*co employees which isn't a good thing their salt water section is an abomination.
So long story short she gave me the eel which I didn't want.
Happy to report he really likes firefish though lol.
I will post some pics later

Good luck and do your research on their needs. Sorry to hear about your firefish.

It is a dry heat, yeah right !
ReefBru, has had a couple Ribbon Eels, I believe.

Hard to keep long term, but very cool.

Well at least you found a food it likes.

They're cool make sure your overflow is screened of very well. not sure if they're jumpers but they definitely like to go where they're not supposed to...

Thanks everyone , I am trying to wean him onto silversides. I have been getting mixed info on how often they eat. you can see the firefish inside him, looks like a big bulge. I'm thinking he probably won't eat again until it's at least partially digested....no?
I guess it is growing on me , i just had planned on some nice wrasses but i guess if i can keep it long term it will be a good trade off.
here's a pic with the lights off

It didn't want to show when I looked at it. Might have been a computer communication issue. Very nice looking eel.
