I thought i would try some mollies (cheaper than firefish) i put 3 in the tank and he grabbed one within 30 seconds. You can see the two lumps, the first is the molly and the second is a firefish.

I know , and to think I was stressed it wouldn't eat.
Do you think mollies would be ok until I can get it eating frozen?
I don't know much about predators but have always heard freshwater feeders are a big no no. I can get firefish for 5 bucks each but would rather not have to.

Probably are right about them being a no no. I would guess some food is better than no food.

Mollies actually are a saltwater fish for part of their life I remember reading. I fed guppies to a snowflake eel for a while that were acclimated to salt. Here is a link I found talking about it. I know they are brackish and adapt from fresh to full salt: Saltwater Mollies

I did have a couple ribbon eels. If they are blue they are harder to get trained to eat. The first one I bought was blue and I had him in a aggressive tank but the hermit crabs pretty much did him in. The second one I got was black turning blue and I had him in my QT tank for about 3 months. I pretty much put a silverside next to the pvc pipe he lived in until he started gobbling them down. Once I knew he was hooked I placed him in my DT. He caught my algae blenny a couple times but managed to get away. I fed him silversides about 3 times a week and he never attacked my fish. It was when I was out of town for a wedding that he jumped out my tank which was my fault because i took the screens off my tank.
