I got a blue spotted jawfish the other day, after months of researching and wanting one. He had been in the store for ~15 days, so I thought he was past the initial shock of transportation. He ate in the store, and coloration looked great. It has been 48 hours since he has been in my tank, and he ate both today and yesterday. My water paramaters are excellent. However, his skin looks to have some white blemishes on it... and I am wondering what may have caused it... or if it is just loss of some color due to stress of the new acclimation. If anyone can help it is much appreciated! I have been feeding him Rod's frozen food, and ordered Seachem Vitality overnight so that I can use that tomorrow on the food. Below are pics:

Your doing everything right. I think by the looks of it you need to plump him up. maybe poor nutrition at your LFS and that caused more stress during the transport to your tank. just keep feeding and keep and eye on him and i think he'll make it

Awesome, thanks so much! I have been feeding ~3 times a day because I read they do best with multiple meals. I figure it would only help his immune system too. Thanks for the reply!

It is a dry heat, yeah right !
BSJ are prone to a number of malidies. BSJ disease is a serious syndrome that should be suspected when ever a BSJ begins to show any type of changes in coloration, lesions or tissue problems.

You have a lid on your tank, right? It sounds like he's still acclimating to his surroundings, jawfish are the most nervous fish I've ever seen. I have a yellowhead, he's a nut. I would continue to monitor it and feed, should be okay as it gets more comfortable. Maybe cut back on a few feedings, unless it's very small portions, you don't want to muk the water up with all that food unless it's a giant system.

Yes I have a cover. and I have ~50 gallons of water with a huge skimmer/lots of chaeto and I run carbon/gfo. My nitrates/phosphates are always undetectable no matter how heavily I feed, but I still have been feeding relatively light portions to avoid having crap all in the tank ;)

Thanks! All good news so far, I just wanted to be sure everything was going okay thus far.
