Any one ever kept one of these? My LFS has two of them and they are pretty darn cool looking- great personalities too!

They're jumpers and generally don't do well in reef tanks. I tried to keep one twice and both jumped out. An expensive lesson.

I am on my second one. These are known jumpers and my first one found it way out of an eggcrate top the night I bought it. I never got to see it. It managed to get up through one of the little squares.

I swore I would never buy one again as 1. they are expensive, and 2. I have heard soo many stories of them jumping...everyone I have talked to said theirs had jumped out over time, even when the fish was settled in for months.

Well.....my LFS had them like half price so I bought one a couple weeks again. I now have a glass top and my overflows covered with filter pads (lost a pearly jawfish into the overflow and now living happily in my refuge). The bluespot is still in my tank and I have seen him a few times since I put him in. They make their den under rocks and often times you can not see them. I happen to have gotten lucky so far in the fact that I can see him more frequently in the last few days as I had to redo rocks for a large clam that I got. He is pretty cool and puffs up big whenever any other fish comes near his den. He does come out at night sometimes

If you do get him make sure you have a good cover on it. I recommend if you have a eggcrate place a netting over it. I recommended this on another site and somebody made a little bit of fun of me and posted no way can one get out through the eggcrate and a couple days later they posted that it jumped out through their eggcrate. Also best to drip him at night (cover the bucket that you drip in..will even jump out of there) and then place him in the tank and make sure the lights are off. Then leave him alone

I had one a few years ago and it is a really great fish. Like others said, it will jump and selling for round $100+/- if your tank is not covered completely, it could be a pricey loss.

I have since only kept pearly jawfish because of their ease of replacement if something does go wrong but if you have the correct cover and a good sand bed with peaceful tank mates, go for it!!! You won't be disappointed! 8)
