I absolutely love these fish. Ok so what is the probability that I can keep one? Will it dig up my sand bed and disturb the tank? I don't have really fine sand its a course aragonite and anywhere from 2" to 4" depending on the location. My tank is like 18" from the SB to the water's surface and I know these are jump prone so that also must be considered. My stock list in my sig although I don't see any problems there except possibly the hawk. Also my tank is fairly established its been up and running since Feb '09. Thanks

Besides the issue of a short tank, I'd be more worried with the structural integrity of your rockwork. How coarse is the substrate? They don't need fine sand but they also can't handle boulders :D

i love these fish as well, but decided against because of them burrowing under the rocks, decided it wasnt worth having an expensive fish causing a rock slide in my tank, their also known to jump and apparently have jumped through eggcrate

Are they known to move rocks!? The substrate isn't too bad like 1-2mm

You can use pvc piping to make dens for them, they seem to enjoy it.

No, but they will move the sand from underneath the rocks to cause a cave-in. NeighborTom has the smart approach

If you do not plan on covering your tank 100% with a mesh or glass, don't get one. Tank height has nothing to do with them escaping unfortunately.

If you do plan on getting one, check the tail for shipping damage,

Get one. I loved mine til' he jumped in the overflow. Found him stuck to a sponge. God rest Brians soul.
Brian had more personality that any other fish I've had.

Now that's one cool fish Gresham.

I love blue spots. Like he said, you have to have a fine mesh to keep them from jumping.
Keep lots of small (1/4-1/2") rubble for them to use in thier burrow.
