I have noticed this for a little over 2 weeks now. My BSJF usually resides in the lower portion of my tank in cave dwellings or out in front of the rocks on the sandbed. He will be still for some time, maneuvering in and out of his caves, occasionally jumping mouth wide open at passer by's. Then out of nowhere, he will dart towards the top of the tank and poke his head out of the water and rapidly swim across the surface (vertically) and then go back down. He is literally walking on water. He does this numerous times, and then like it never happened, go back to "business as usual." I have a screen top on my tank, as I have a few "jumping" fish, but it does not seem to me that he is jumping. He also doesn't look stressed, still eating like a champ, bright vibrant color.

Each day I see this, I have my phone ready to record a video, and he is so intuitive, he ceases all activity the second I start recording. I will eventually catch him, and post the video.

    What could this be?

    LOL

I had a peacock mantis that I took to the store (in part to let customers see that they aren't the monsters that they were made out to be). I was keeping mantis when NO ONE was keeping mantis and I've never seen another one do this. However, this one at the store was named Cuddles and when customers would ring out at the counter, he would use his swimmerets to stay at the top and he would hold his head out of the water and look at them.
