OK so was at the LFS yesterday and seen this little guy and he was saying take me home well then I learn they are possible jumpers. That they should be in a tank with a mixed substrate, I have sand. And they should be fed three times a day. Any help did I screw up. Thanks in advance.:eek:::):-/

It is a dry heat, yeah right !
They are not possible jumpers, they are the biggest jumpers. Even the smallest hole is an escape route. If you have no lid it's only a matter of time.

They can be in a sand bed but provide smaller pieces of lr rubble.

Expect them to be shy initially.

Research Blue Spotted Jawfish Disease, so you know what to expect.

Most important thing about this fish is a LID and starting with a healthy specimen. A absolutely wonder fish, but not one to be bought on a whim.

Thank you both closed up tank last night watched him eat so far so good will get him some rubble to keep him happy. He seems alert and swimming around and there are no fish in tank that should pick on him. Thanks again

lol.........jumpers OH YEAH!!! I had one for like 3 hours. I got home and I bought that egg crate material that people put in their ceilings. I completely covered my tank wiht it. I thought for sure there was no way he would ever get out. I then acclimated him and placed him in the tank and turned off the lights to allow him to settle. Next morning i go into look at the tank and could not find him. I then look on the floor and there he is, dead. Never once got to see him in the tank. The only thing I could figure was he somehow jumped perfectly and went through on of the holes in the egg crate.
