I would call the LFS you got it from in the morning and find out exactly what and how they were feeding.

Sweet looking ray. I would love to have one eventually.

they were feeding shrimp, just pushing it under her disc near its mouth. i had a big long chat to him about that before i decided to take her. she has been in the tank about 36 hours most of that spent buried in the sand

i would try some Live food first just so you can be associated with food. it may be expensive and aggrivating, but i think it would be the best way. that is one beautiful ray you have their, all of us will help in any way you need to, to keep it alive. good luck and keep us posted.

Again, I don't know about rays, but in the first 36 hours could the stress of acclimation be the cause of not eating? I'd be careful about putting too much food in that will go uneaten.

i have been thinking it could still be stress, so i only leave the food sit for about 3 or 4 hours and then if i come back an its still there i have been scooping it out, as for live food the only shrimp i have access to are CBS or freshwater shrimp and the CBS are a little on the expensive side to be feeding a ray haha, im not sure if the fresh water ones will have any ill effects

get some freshwater shrimp then feed them marine flake food for a day or so. dip them in selcon then feed to your ray. the marine flake will give them some marine nutrition and the selcon will help even more to give it the nutrition it needs. also try some garlic extreme to help it eat. if you use garlic extreme for a while then it will associate garlic extreme for live shrimp. start feeding it dead freshwater shrimp and see if it takes to it. after that graduate to krill. still soak everything in garlic extreme and selcon before feeding. eventually it will associate you with food and eat what you give it. Dont give up if this one dies. we would all like to hear you keeping one of these successfully. good luck and sorry for the long post :)

will do i will go shrimping in about an hour when the rain stops, as for garlic extreme the lfs an hour away doesnt stock any but i do have fresh garlic, i have mashed a clove up and mixed it with half a cup of tank water and letting the chunks off food soak for a few hours. if nothing else the other fish are enjoying it haha. i'd love to keep trying if this one dies but i dont like the idea of waisting such beautiful creatures, having said that they are irresitable

i agree with not wasting beautiful creatures. saying that i mean not to go and have ten of them until you want to stop buying them because they die so much. i wouldnt go past three. after that it just seems like none would live. i stopped after two dwarf lionfish died because i didnt want ot waste beautiful creatures. good luck.
