Do you have a lot of pods or bristle worms? Hear any clicking noise in the tank now and then? There could be some uninvited guests in the rock work. I had a tang die over night and it was a skeleton in the morning, so its not unreasonable for it to be eaten though sounds like your CuC is small. It is uncommon for a Regal to jump from what I've read. Always frustrating when this happens :-/.

I believe since he was small, the 30G was ok for the time being. The 90G is cycling right now and wont be ready for another month or so.

I'm sorry, did I miss something here? I don't remember the question being "is a 30 gallon tank big enough for a blue tang?"

a 30 gallon tank for a qtr. sized tang is just fine especially since he was to be moved. It might surprise you, something that small could still be hiding, I have a 4" Hippo that hides all the time, it gets up tight against the rocks and even when you move the rock it sticks to it. So you might get lucky yet,

people keep golden retrievers in studio apartments all the time. Im sure he can keep his < 1" tang in a 30 gallon for a little while

See everything is ok. as long as he finds the darn thing.

a 30G is fine for a tang for short term, Ever heard of QT'ing a fish, I highly doubt most reefers that QT fish that gets big QT in anything under a 40G...

Regardless! Good luck finding the tang, Really hope it comes out for you soon!

As long as it's a tiny tang, it's not a big deal, especially when there's a tank it's going into in short order. I wouldn't encourage it as a regular practice, as plans can fall through quite easily, but he's already got it up and cycling.

Golden retrievers can go for a walk. ;D
Yeah I guess you can't take him for a walk, but you could take him for a swim if you lived close enough to the ocean, hah ;D
