My blue tang has taken a hit after a week of thick green water. His whole body is covered with this tiny white sand-like spots. It looks like ick. I noticed it today, after the green water finally somehow cleared.

I started using a UV sterilizer yesterday, the water has cleared a lot, but still not there yet, it's still hazy.

Anyway, what can I do for the blue tang? I tried to catch him, but it's almost impossible with all the rock. I have a couple of cleaner shrimps, but he won't allow them to get near him. He's swiming and eating like normal. He just looks a big skinny....he's probably dying already....the rest of the fish...the clownfish, yellow tail damsel, sand sifting gobby and inverts are doing fine and dont have anything on them.

Once again, thanks in adnvance for your input/info. Peace.

I would suggest not stressing him out any more by trying to get him out. Do use the extreme garlic it may possibly help. I use it every time I feed. You might also try some little blue gobies. They are reasonably inexpensive,$8-$10 a piece. My question to you is why was the water green?

Thanks for the repply scvc.....the little fella passed away during the night...I found him dead on skimmer intake :(....at least he had a last meal yesterday. As for the green water, it was a planktom outbreake...can't remember the actual name, a member of this forums also told me it could've been Windex...I cleaned the OUTSIDE glass of my aquarium with it....my water is clear now, this UV sterilizer I got is just amazing.....Now what I have are dust particles...I didnt rinse my LS when I first started my tank, so now's taking a bit, 'cause the new PHs I have started to stir things up....anyway....THANK YOU for responding to my thread. Peace....

PS going to buy garlic extreme today....anything else you would recomend?
