    Hi Everyone,

I recently purchased a Blue Tang (Juevenile). She was put into my display tank and was in there for a few days but then started getting white spots on her so my LFS said to put her n Quarantine with a Copper Dose which is what i have done...
She was doing great yesterday, all the white spots had gone and she was eating well but today she is just sitting on the heater with her mouth wide open :(
she still moves her fins every now and then but shes not looking too good.
She has darker blue patches on her as well.
What should i do!? or is this normal with copper doses?
also i took about 5-10mls of her water (very small amount) to defrost some mysis shrimp to feed her last night which she ate but then i stupidly used that food to feed my display tank!!!!!!!!!!!! will that very small amount of copper affect my display tank??? all the corals seem fine at the moment...
Thats what happens when you only get 3 hours sleep :(

Please help...i don't want to lose her
    :)

here's a pic of her colours:

There are other methods you can try such as hypo salinity or a freshwater dip. I wouldn't recommend the freshwater dip though as I would think that would be too stressful. I would probably try the hypo salinity method first.

I also had my juvenile tang get ich about 2 years ago. It does seem that blue tangs are able to fight through it fairly well. It lasted a few day's and the fish also didn't want to eat much, but eventually it got better on it's own and I haven't seen it get ich again, knock of wood. Hopefully yours will recover well also because it def. is a beautiful fish.

Oh she's beautiful I hope she gets well my clown has ich as well, but I am treating it so my hopes are high. Best of luck to you have you tried herbal remedies? Such as tea tree oil/ ich attack? Not sure if it works but I have heard a few say it does

She was gorgeous....but she did pass away yesterday :(
i dont think i have the heart to buy another blue tang...they're just so hard to aclimatise and i'm a pansy seriously this is my first fish thats ever died...so was very sad!
the sad thing is...i could have let her be in the display tank because all her spots disspeared but my stupid LFS told me to do the copper dip anyway otherwise she would die...but she was fine, eating well...swimming around with the other fishies etc...stupid LFS!

ohwell...thanks for your help anyway :)

I haven't heard of the herbal remedies but i might have to look into that next time

A copper "dip" won't do anything for a fish. A fresh water dip will, a formalin bath will, but dipping in coppered water won't.

Also whenever you treat a QT with copper you absolutely need to have a copper test kit. Too little and you're not helping anything. Too much and you can hurt the fish.
