Unfortunately Tangs can very quickly become the dominant fish in any tank as they grow. It's usually why they are added last to stocking lists so there's less aggresion. Hippos grow pretty quickly too, I think faster than many other Tangs, they steal all the food those buggers.

You could watch him and grow him out a bit, but just keep an eye out as he gets larger. I think ultimately I had about 4 nets in my tank and had to take some rock out to catch mine, they're soooo fast. I was so psyched when I got him though!

The awesome thing about SW keeping is that there are soooo many cool fish that you could grow out comfortably in a 50g, I'm sure we can give you suggestions if you do end up taking the Hippo out. But again, he'll be ok for a bit, just use your judgment if you start seeing him really bothering the other fish.

FYI the inverted bottle trick has worked for me with my Powder Blue, when I didn't want to catch him. You would just prob need to cut the spout big enough for him to get in.

best of luck whatever you decide!

Thanks, that seems the least stressful way. After that I'll try the ninja net or if I really need him out a filed-off-barb hook.
