Blue Tang Question

    Hello All
    I am wanting to pick up a 1" to 2"Blue Tang

    (Paracanthurus hepatus)

    Currently I have the 46g tank which I know is too small, but I am looking for a big tank. Question is, How fast doe they grow? A 2" fish is not too big so how long before he grows to 6"+ ?

    I had to look that up :)

    Hippo tang. If you defiinitely plan on upgrading soon, go ahead and give it a try. Buyer beware though, these fish can be difficult to get acclimated so make sure that you get a healthy fish from the getgo.

    By the looks of the way mine is growing you will have about a year or a little less before he will outgrow the tank and start getting stressed. Make sure if you get one that you are also looking for bigger tank.

    1"-2" is pretty darn tiny. Will be good while before outgrowing tank...may not survive tankmates or overflow/powerhead suction if you have any. Small tangs are pretty lousy swimmers.

    Try to find one with the yellow belly, the one with the blue belly is a known zoanthid eater.

    they eat zoas? i have never heard of that. nor has my blue tang even looked twice at my zoas. ime
