    Hi Everyone,

My friends tank has burst and he is looking to give me his blue tang from his 55 G ( I own a 75 G ) but when I look up the species they are saying 180 G and I have a ton of rock work.

I have partly turned the offer down but he claims 4 foot tank is all that is needed.

    I am sceptic.

Kinda depends on big big he is NOW?

My Royal Blue Tang is already about 7inches, and seems very happy in my 125g.

I am not looking forward however to giving/donating(zoo?)/selling him in the future b/c I feel he WILL out grow my tank too.

way to small of a tank IMO, I asked alot about this and would say that it will rapidly outgrow a 75 gallon.

When I had a blue tang, he didn't grow super quickly but if it's small and has some swimming room. He could be happy for a while but not long term. You can then find a bigger home if needed.

The fish itself is gorgeous but it is not the strategy that will work in my tank . My tank contains a lot of rock work primarily for inverts. I have a few small fish - fish this size would be very restricted and just become problematic but I wanted to make sure I gave myself benefit of the doubt.

He cares for the fish - so I found information.

Sounds like you made a good decision. I'm sure you'll find another good home.

You have made a wise choice. Catching a fish in a fully stocked reef tank is next to impossible.Removing most of the rock is usually necessary. Not something that you want to make a habit of believe me.;)
