Ok, so I have a bit of a problem. My school has this horrible software that requires you to have an antivirus and other software on your computer to access the wireless. That isn't the problem, though. The problem is that they don't keep the dang thing updated. I've been unable to connect since they updated Microsoft Security Essentials - about 3-4 months now - because they just never update their whitelist. I upgraded MSE, but that blocks me from the network. Stupid, right?

What I was wondering was whether anyone knew about this software (BlueProtect), and where it scans to see if protection software is active. I'm more than willing to put some registry keys in, or some fake files, if it'll fool this thing to letting me in with a legit, updated antivirus instead of some 6 month old junk.

I'm not familiar with the software. Link the website.

Your comment, "they," is vague. Who is they?

The issue isn't whether or not the anti-virus software is active, the concern is with the latest definitions.

Security Essentials is free and scans for virus's, adware and spyware. Why do you need more than one anti-virus tool?

MSE is updated fully on my computer, but the definitions aren't up to date, because the IT guys at my school don't update the software. I was looking for a way to trick the software into thinking I had an older antivirus on my computer.

This doesn't make any sense. The updates that are released on a consistant basis are only virus definitions, not changes to the application. If you ran updates, then you've updated definitions. If you download the software directly from Microsoft Security Essentials, then the latest definitions will be available.

Update what software? BlueProtect? Link the website. I find nothing about this antivirus you mention.

I've never been to the website of the people who make the software before, that's just what shows up when you first open a browser at the school. Login page w/ BlueProtect logo, then a javascript scan page. It's their whitelist that isn't up to date, so they don't have MSE 2.0, only the earlier version, and aren't upwards inclusive of new versions.

Either suggest this update or install a previous version. Otherwise, the answer to your questions is no.

Blue protect actually scans your pc looking for a up to date virus protection, antispyware, firewall, MS up-to-date patchs, any and all P2P programs(which must be removed or you cant connect) and you cant have any pirated software on your machine like a Pirated OS unless you have it validated through MS.

I don't have utorrent on my laptop; that's only on my home PC. I just want to be able to run an up to date antivirus, rather than something older, and find a way to satiate this stupid program.
