Went to the fish store today and got an extra 48 snails, 2 peppermint shrimp, MJ1200 with mod and salt. With the new MJ in there my tank is now turning over 60X per hour:eek:. Only another 3 months till I can add some fish:-/. Hopefully the snails and Rowaphos will help keep the algae in check until then.

only fish i have left is a single purp chromis, small scopas tang and my coris so the tank is spic and span now lol, the skimmer is bored to tears, hardly getting any skimmate cause of the lack of nutrients in the system, thinking of actually shutting down my PO4 reactor so my fuge doesnt starve

GL on the reset man just curious have you thought about getting a UV filter? I've been tossing the idea around of putting one on a timer for a couple hours a day to maybe help out with any parasitic or bacterial issues

Kogle just got a uv running on his tank the past week or two. I am going to wait and see how it works for him. I might end up setting one up, I talked with him about pitching in some money and sharing his since you aren't supposed to run them all the time. We will see.
I have been talking with Tangster a lot about this issue and he had a great idea. He said that as soon as you buy a fish put some copper treatment in the bag and by the time you get home and acclimate him the copper will have had time to kill 99% of the stuff on the fish. Wow, great idea! So simple and I never thought of it:confused:!

Well just a quick update, my fishless tank is still an algae farm:p. I recently added 24 nerites and 24 ceriths and set up some rowaphos running through a reactor that my great buddy Otty let me borrow (gotta mention Kogle let me steal a cup of rowaphos also!). My next step is some mexican turbo snails. I am going to buy 12 to hopefully eat away at the problem. The algae isn't spreading any more it just isn't going away since there are no algae grazing fish in there. Turbos are supposed to have a great appetite for GHA so we will see.
Oh and I also added another MJ1200 with mod, my tank is now turning over 60X an hour!

    New update:
I posted about my http://www.3reef.com/forums/inverts/my-new-gha-cuc-way-58282.html . I got 10 turbos and a sea hare. The sea hare died within 12 hours and most of the turbos died because my tank is at 80+ degrees and they are a cool water snail:(. $40 on the whole deal but oh well, that is how it goes in this hobby. Here are some pic updates on the GHA on 3 different days. I think it is getting better because I finally got the reactor with the rowaphos dialed in properly. It is breaking off in chunks now and sticking to my filter pads.

Maybe use a weed wacker as well to trim around the areas the lawn boy can't reach ;D

I'm thinkin about the weedwhacker! This is damned frustrating. Sea hare didn't make it, which I hear they are bad about. Roger says to bump the tank up to 80+ degrees so the oonidium will work it's course faster. That killed the turbos. Due to the oonidium I can't get any more fish for 3 more months. The rowaphos is about all I have going for me right now. I might buy a sally lightfoot even though I heard that most of them nip corals when they get big. I don't know if I would be able to catch it. I'm at my wits end here!! I just don't want to stare at an algae farm for the next 3+ months. :-/:-/:(:(:cry:
