hey guys, just finished boiling a bunch of my LR that had Lots of green hair algae growths or on some which had some small patches of bYropsis i think..

anyways i boiled each piece for about 15 minutes in a strong boil and they werent totally white/tan they still had some dark blacker spots where somthing used to be and some had the green color where the algae whas..

so im letting them fully dry out then im gonna quickly boil them again just to be safe and then im contemplating on what to do...

thinking of doing this to re cure it....

-wash it out with ro/di water
    - place in a tub of ro/di SALT water wiht a PH and heater(do i need this?) to start curing.... for about 12H
-then take out and rinse with ro/di water again
-put back in Fresh new ro/di SALT water for 12H

    then put in tank.....

how does that sound??? do i need to add anything or remove anything from the list?? any other steps i should do??

i still have about 40 lbs of fully cured LIVE ROCK in the tank that ive had in there for a while..

    LMK
    thanks everyone!

BUMP Please respond i need to do this quickly to get started asap thanks and sorry to bug...

also what are your thoughts of PLACING THE BOILED ROCK IN A SALTWATER HOTTUB (COLD NOW ABOUT 65 DEG) WITH THE JETS GOING...??

WOULD IT SPEED UP THE PROCESS?

EDIT: by process i mean getting rid of the dead invertibretes/algae etc etc because of the constant circulation?

in my opinion you set yourself back.by boiling and basicly killing the live rock you've made it useless for anything but base rock.algae will grow in any tank, even a tank of salt water with nothing in it will grow algae if the water is'nt right and theres no clean up crew.all my tanks have gone through an algae stage as part of the cycle.

i know the rock is useless now but i have another 40lbs Of LIVE rock in my tank that im sure will quickly re seed it.

the main reason i did it was because of the byropsis on one of them and the abundance of hair on a couple more. i didnt want it getting out of control at all....

i am proably going to end up bleaching them just to make sure there minty clean and i know the process of re-curing them so that hopefully will work out well!
