I have a question concerning color temperature & their bulbs. Considering it wasn't directly about the bulb, but rather about color, I thought this board would be a better place for my thread.

I have not yet gotten my bulbs because I have always been concerned about how blue(or not blue) I want it to look.

I like the look of the 3 royal blue, 2 cool white bulbs, but they are currently on back order until the end of December. I think If I went with anymore white than 3b 2 w, it would look way too washed out in my 29g.

The "all white" bulb is 7000k. I was wondering, if that is 7000k then what would the Kelvin temperature be if I have 4 of the diodes be the royal blue? I know the royal blue ones they use are 460nm...

Seano - if I understand your question you are wondering what the CCT (Correlated Color Temperature), with the 1 CW/ 4 RB i am willing to bet you are somewhere around 20000 Kelvin (20K) neigborhood. With the 3RB/2CW lamps - they are just a LITTLE bit bluer than the 14K Pheonix Bulb on my 120 - they are probably about 16000 Kelvin (16K).

Thank, M-Ocean-Man. That was my question & exactly the kind of response I was looking for.

    I gave you some karma.

Now, I guess I need to decide how deep of water I want to represent. Trying to do an Indo-Pacific bio-tope.

I'm annoyed that now that we have some money, the bulbs I wanted are on back-order for 2 more weeks...
