I went to pet store last night and saw the coolest fish. I can't find ANY info on these fish though. I only found articles from 2003 talking about how rare they were and unable to get. It said they were deep sea Japanese fish and had to be kept in colder water. One article said little ones had no color (the small ones were great).

I don't add anything into my reef tank until I can find LOTS of info on them, but wow! I'd love to have this Dr. Seuss fish in my tank someday. They were pink with orange poka-dots. Top fin was pink with yellowish edging . Goofiest looking thing!

    Beautiful fish....

It is a much rarer fish than you would normally find. Have seen them run in the $300 range for a single specimen. They are found up to 80m deep. Eat mostly mysis, but will eat most anything. They are one of the larger anthias species, growing up to 6" is not uncommon. Monitor with shrimp, as they get larger. As with all anthias, they tend to do better in groups.

One of my LFSs got one of those in and added it to their show tank. After realizing that the blotches aren't a sign of illness (yeah, totally freaked out when I first saw it), but was it's color pattern then I thought it was pretty cool.

I also haven't seen to much about them but I'll let you know if I do.

Lyretails, being amongst the easier Anthias to keep can be quite aggressive - just letting you know. :)
