Does anyone have a boxing/Pom Pom crabs, i was looking at the 3reef sponsors/ads and went to reefscavengers.com i was looking at their inverts and saw a boxing crab also known as an Pom Pom crab, it carries 1 or 2 tiny aneneomes in its claws and uses them to scare predators and to sweep the substrate for food they seem cool and i was wondering if anyone has them and if i should get one.

Cool looking guy, never seen one before. Is it reef safe? Have you done research on it? Luna

They are reef safe but reclusive so once you add it to your tank, you may never see it again. If you have a nano, it might be easier to spot it but definitely not in a large reef tank with lots of active swimming fish around.

very shy. They are very reef safe as they don't hurt anything but you'll never see him after putting him in your tank.

    check out a video

YouTube - Boxer Crab - Lybia tessellata

if anyone knows how to add videos to a post please let me know.

its reef safe and only grows to be 1" its a great demonstration of symbiosis

and the crab only drops the anenomes when molting.

Sounds like a perfect set up for the crab then! Just make sure that the fish that you choose to have it share a tank with isn't too active or the crab may spend all of its time hiding.

Mine was hilarious. He was always waving his anemone's at my clownfish who never moved more than 4 inches from his host. The clownfish truly never cared about him but it was funny nonetheless.

I agree with amcarrig though, definately meant for a nano tank.
