since i moved my brain to its new spot in it has been very happy, and i have noticed it taking the shape of the nearby rocks, is this a normal brain thing or is he just happy? he's in a tight corner, before i had him in a larger spot at the other end of the tank near the powerhead, and he was not happy at all, but he seems to be loving this new spot, i just havent seen any pics of brains taking form to rocks crevices

oh yea in the pic the colors are kind of faded because of my camera and the actinics are on. And sorry for the insainly dirty glass i havent cleaned it yet

I've read that brains can become agitated by rubbing on the rockwork, and that it is bad for them. i owuld check to see if there is any damage being caused by the rock, and if not, i would'nt worry about him being there.

I would try to get him away from the rocks. It is possible that he could injure himself against it.

Well I have my favia brain and it seems to be growing ON the rock, kinda like spreading.
Yours looks more like a shrinkage? Maybe you want to move that rock just a tiny bit so it won't touch your brain? Or try a different spot for it.

looks to be a little bit more room to the right if i nudge him over a little bit, although im afraid if i move him i will injure him, this is also why i had him in his original spot that was much bigger, but nooooo, he didnt like it, but seems to be doing ok in the smaller but with the exception of touching the rocks

this is the only sppot thats really left thats far away from the powerhead that he didnt like very much maybe ill try to move him over slightly tomorrow and hope i dont injure him

I agree and would move him... it doesn't hurt the coral at all.. but touching the rock might do damage in the future. Just my opinion..

Its not growing into the crevice, the fleshy part is just expanding more and touching the rock. It's not a huge deal if its by the rock. The rock can rip the flesh, but as long the coral is happy, I wouldn't worry about it.

Favia and favites are different corals. She looks like a trachyphillia coral which doesn't encrust like favia.
