hey guys i just had a thought and yes it did hurt a little.........

do you think i could take out the bio wheel in my aquamedic bio star
and put some weed in there and prop a light on top of it and use it for a mini refugium?

my tank after water displacment has 100 ltrs in it.

do you think the bio wheel and matrix i have in there will do more than turning it in to a mini refugium?

 

anything is worth a try. How will you keep the algae out of the protein skimmer though? You might need to paint one side of the tube.

are you familiar with the unit i have? its got about 3 ltrs capacity in there once i take the bio wheel out and it doesnt interfere with the skimmer.
my unit is the bio star flotor by aquamedic. here is the pdf.

so take in consideration the room i have in there and if i chuck some weed in there and a led light that i bought over the top would it do the trick as opposed to the bio wheel and matrix in the bottom?

the area where i want to make the fuge is seperate to the skimmer.
its where the out flow pours in to.
