My branch coral is happy but the bits poking out the tubes are "letting go". Is this normal? They are all out and beautiful but I have another two branches breaking away and two have already gone. Can I grow these bits if I catch them before they are eaten (they still keep their "fingers" out) or is the coral letting me know it is sick? Everything else in the tank is happy and he looks happy too.
    Any suggestions would be appreciated.
    Thanks

Any pics? That would better help in determining if there is a problem...

You are going to have to be more specific. By branch coral do you mean branching hammer (I.E. Euphyllia)

I'm trying to read between the lines here. I'm guessing you have a Euphyllia (frogspawn, torch, or hammer) and you are experiencing polyp bailout (where the polyps release from the skeleton).

If I'm guessing correctly, your coral is not happy. Polyp bailout is a last ditch effort to live. They hope to float to somewhere more hospitable to their growth. Some people have put Euphyllia into too much flow and had this happen.

Again....still guessing. But if I'm right, put the released polyps in a short plastic cup filled with sand in a low flow part of your tank. If you keep your tank parameters good, they will regrow a new skeleton.

Thanks - yes I looked him up and he is a hammer. He must be unhappy to be bailing out - I thought he looked happy. I'll try to regrow the two polyps I've lost. Thanks for all the help. 8)
