Over the past few weeks it slowley started shrinking and then all of a sudden each of the branches would shed the flesh from it's skeleton. It's very strange as the whole thing comes off in one piece. It's not decaying or diseased. It just comes off and floats around the tank. Almost half of the whole coral has done this and another one seems to come every few days or so.
Almost all the other inhabitants of the tank are fine. There have been a couple off fishes lost in the last couple of months but nothing major.

I don't have any pics after the damage has been done but here's one from before...

You didn't by chance touch the flesh with your hands while doing maintenance did you? If so, Euphylias react very badly to the oils on our skin. Just a thought. When you say almost all of the other inhabitants are fine, what do you mean? Also as always, what are your params?

Read up on euphy reproduction. One form is polyp shed. In the wild they release tentacles to drift in the current and attach elsewhere to start a new colony. :)

No, this isn't that. I have seen individual polyps shed for reproduction but this is the whole colony from each branch. Like it just lets go of the skeleton.

    No.

Never put bare hands in the water. I always wear latex gloves.
As far as "almost all the other inhabitants are fine" I did state that I had lost a couple of fish in the last month or two.

Also, your two colonies are placed too close to each other... They actually may be fighting... I tried to move mine away from the other colony and both are doing much better. They all have very strong stings, but you just cannot see them stinging each other...

Around 9-10. The pH has dropped a little in the past week but this started way before then.
