Congrats on the new tank! My first tank was a 29g biocube.

If I remember right the only directions are on the back of the box....could not open this up due to new computer but this site should give you more info
Oceanic Systems | Products | BioCube

What are you going to keep in it?

The system is fairly easy to connect....
1st chamber is the filter cartridge (which you will learn to hate....get some hydorcarbon and place it in a knee high and then get filter pad and cut small piece and add to that compartment) You will find that the filter cartridges are expensive and clog up very fast. Use the one that you have now but plan on changing in a week or two.

2nd has bioball and biomedia tray
3rd chamber has oump and that is where I have the heater

On putting together the stand....good luck! That is a challenge and poorly made. Hopefully you will have all the pieces with it...mine did not and I have heard many others have not had all the parts either. I ended up taking the stand down and buying a new stand. But it was the older model that I had so.....

I have found that my biocube runs hot when the bulbs are on. So I used to open the lid during the day to cool it off....keep an eye on the temps. (I have since removed the lid and have installed another light on it)

Well since you already have it running with fish, it's a moot point hehe. :) I would use about 5lbs of your old sand to seed the new sand in the new tank though. Since you are using the LR in your old tank, the rock is good to go. I would also add a little bit of "Cycle" into the tank to ease some of the stress on the new tank. It will help kick start the bacteria that is in the water. I don't remember the lights on that tank, but I think you will be limited to softies, no SPS corals.

hey, I got an oceanic 29g biocube. I have lots of stuff in thats living. I have the following:
    solomoon zoos, other zoos
    ricordia
    frogspawn
    hammer coral
    green star polyps, yellow polyps
    open brain
    toadstool leather
    devils hand leather
candy canes, (which is hosting a kenya tree and some polyps of some sort and another type of LPS which is like a centimeter in size---quite exciting)
    orange sea sponge
    sun coral
    other mushrooms,
    2 bubble tip anenomes

The only coral i purchased which i did not succeed in growing, whether the inefficient lighting or poor fathering, was a bubble coral. I bought it for 10$ when it was small and it just got smaller. Any ideas as to how to take care of one?

but anyways, biocube is great. Is there a maximum bioload for corals though?
Its a really good tank, glad to hear you got one... although im ready for my 75 now. Im jsut scared of the price

Furthermore, i wanted SPS but i believe the lighting isnt the adequate for them. And also Ive heard that high quality protein skimmming is necessary.

SPS require VERY HIGH lighting, MH

In my biocube I had zoas, mushrooms, colt, toadstools, closed brain,

Skimming is hard in the biocube IMHO. I bought the skimmer that Oceanic makes for that...piece of junk. So then I bought another nano fission skimmer...even more junk.

So now I dont have a skimmer in there but I do VERY frequent water changes. Just be careful with your livestock selection and dont overload it

I use the biocube protein skimmer, and im not a professional obivously, but it seems to do the job. It fills up with a really brownish greenish liquid which i empty often enough to have faith that it does something. Im looking to get a protein skimmer for a 75gallon which ill set up on my 29 until then
