It is a dry heat, yeah right !
The cycle sounds like it's just doing what it's supposed to do. Give it a couple more days and the nitrites should fall off, then do a 10-20 percent water change to get the nitrates down to a more acceptable level. If the rock is dry it should not affect the current cycle, if uncured live rock, you may end up with a small mini-cycle again and if cured live rock it should not have much effect as long as it has very little die off. The pH is fine at 8.0, wait until the tank is totally cycled to even worry about that.

so its been a cpl more days now and my Nitrites are still off the charts 5.0+, Amonia is down to 0, and nitrate at 40. i have bought 3 more live rocks which ill include a picture for they where they best looking at my LFS. will they help bring down the nitrites? also the LFS has some bio spira on sale would that help bring the bacteria in check or would it be a waste of money? i have 25lbs of dry rock being delivered tomorrow and my lighting will be here on friday. was hoping to get fish this weekend but doesnt look like it will happen at this rate

(tank is a little murky from moving rocks around)

also someone noted that my HOB filter media might be causing the high nitrites so i removed the carbon filters i have new ones on order but i left the bio wheels on. any thoughts?
