Hi guys! I apparently made an account a while back when I was doing research on starting up salts. I have no idea if I've introduced myself before or not, but oh well! Better to do it twice than not at all, right?

Anyhow-- I have a 35 gal tank that I'm starting up. It was given to my boyfriend before I moved in, but he hates the idea of salt water so the tank eventually lost it's life. It still had water, live rock, and live sand in it when I moved in, but it's been shedding salt all over the place and just lying dormant for about 6 months now. The live rock still has some purple and a tiny bit of green algae on it but the sand had a very ugly mixture of brown dingy gunk all in it.

SO! On impulse, I vacuumed 98% of the water out, rearranged the live rock, and filled it back up with water. I haven't tested the quality or gravity yet, but I am excited to get it going.

So I have a 35 gal tank, an EHEIM 2213, a heater, hood light, and a protein skimmer. Should be enough to maintain my future Tiny Tank!

I'll post pictures of my progress... once I get some progress... :)

Water was [almost] black prior to taking this photo. Brown stuff was all in the sand...

Is this alive? I don't see how...

Do you think any of this live rock is still kickin'?
