You're welcome! My only knowledge of this kind of problem(bubbles) is due to a P.O.S. Protein Skimmer(don't buy cheap junk).....sorry Wish I could help you!

Maybe I can help you.....I went to the web site for RedSeaMAx and was reading up on it. It's a containted system. Have you adjusted your protein skimmer???

I keep playing with the skimmer and it will stop for a while and then the bubbles will start again and I have to mess around with everything again. I am hoping to put live rock in sometime next week and I would really like the bubble thing to stop. I am so new to everything that I really don't know what I am doind!

There in lies your problem. If you see on the posts about Protein Skimmers and Bubbles, most of them are mentioning certain brands, ie...RedSea, Jebo, SeaClone? They are warning you they are not very good from their personal experiences. I understand, you got it as a gift ....the gift was very nice, but, you now have a problem, that you are stressing over. Know what I mean?

I agree with the reviews of Jebo and SeaClone. I now own the remains of both brands. I had massive bubbles! I made a bubble trap. Look at all the sumps on pics posted. They all have some sort of bubble trap. Come up with a DIY bubble trap for your tank(custom).(Or buy a new skimmer)

As far as skimmers go? I have not purchased a new one yet. After I get back from a job I'm doing in Omaha, I'm getting a new one. Not sure of the brand, but I do know it won't be cheap junk!

Good luck and I hope you adjust(go slowly, about 1/4 turn at a time and let it sit about 10 min between each 1/4 turn) it perfectly, the next time you try :)

    Linda

Hey! Yes it is a great place to learn. I've had my 55gal since christmas 2002(1?). I just found this site in April by accident...like most. I've been to the other sites and the people here are much friendlier! Have fun! Learn Lots!

Fresh salt water with no organic compounds is very prone to micro bubbles. I would just turn off the skimmer until the tank is a few weeks old, and then fire it up and try to adjust it again. You may find that it works ok.
